About Woodside Energy
Proudly founded in Australia, we are a global energy company providing reliable and affordable energy to help people lead better lives. Woodside Global Solutions in Bengaluru brings together talent, digital expertise and operational excellence to support Woodside's global operations.
Woodside Global Solutions in Bengaluru is being built as a hub of excellence, to drive innovation and global collaboration. We are looking for talented professionals who are eager to make a global impact, helping to shape the future of Woodside together.
About the role
The Senior Engineering Excellence Developer is a highly capable technical leader across the full development lifecycle (requirements to operation) and entire technology stack (front-end user interface to the back-end data access patterns). Rather than delivering applications to business customers, this role enables product engineering teams to deliver custom software products quickly, safely and consistently. They set and uphold a high bar for engineering quality, provide hands-on technical guidance and assurance to the product teams they support, and uplift engineering capability through coaching, review, and advocacy of agreed standards, patterns and paved paths.
This role is embedded and collaborative by design, working alongside agile product teams rather than owning their code, backlog or delivery outcomes. It requires leadership by example and influence rather than authority, strong problem solving, and a genuine passion for lifting the capability of others in a dynamic, agile environment, while remaining quality minded and always advocating for continuous improvement.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on technical guidance to assigned product teams across the full stack and delivery lifecycle, helping them design, build and evolve complex applications using approved languages, cloud services and platforms.
- Act as the first point of contact when a product team is technically blocked, triaging whether the issue is a platform problem, a systemic standards gap, or something that can be unblocked directly.
- Champion software quality across supported teams by holding a high bar in code reviews, testing practices and delivery-time technical assurance, without assuming ownership of the team’s code or backlog.
- Drive adoption of reusable components and platform patterns across product teams through coaching, demos, documentation, pairing and hands-on implementation support.
- Establish and evolve AI-assisted engineering practices across product teams; including standards for AI coding agents, prompt/context engineering, and safe, reviewable use of AI-generated code.
- Partner with Developer Platform, Architecture, Cyber and product engineering teams to ensure reusable frameworks are secure, scalable, observable and aligned with approved standards.
- Design, build and maintain reusable engineering assets such as React component libraries, backend service templates, API patterns, shared utilities, CI/CD templates, infrastructure patterns and reference implementations.
- Lead secure by design reviews in conjunction with Cyber, Uplift the security maturity of supported teams, and support timely, prioritised remediation of vulnerabilities.
- Onboard new developers to engineering standards, tooling and ways of working so they become productive quickly.
- Uplift engineering capability through coaching, mentoring, pairing, participation in the engineering community, and creation of reusable enablement material.
- Identify recurring engineering problems across product teams and convert them into reusable, well-documented frameworks, accelerators and paved paths.
- Measure and improve the effectiveness of shared engineering assets through adoption feedback, reduction in duplicated code, faster onboarding and improved delivery consistency.
- Contribute to defining “what good looks like” — standards, guidelines, the Tech Radar and the engineering capability bar
- Establish contribution, versioning, documentation, support and deprecation practices for shared components and internal frameworks.
- Provide structured evaluation of new technologies and contribute to platform patterns and ways of working.
Skills & Experience
Required Experience / Essential Skills
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering roles after formal academic studies with senior engineering experience including formally mentoring other developers

- Expert proficiency with AWS cloud native services (API Gateway, AppSync, Lambda, S3, SNS+SQS, DynamoDB, Aurora etc) for designing cloud native solutions, creating reusable backend/API patterns, and provisioning the required back-end app infrastructure using infrastructure as code (CloudFormation, CDK, serverless frameworks such as Serverless and SAM).
- Data modelling and database design of both AWS SQL and NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, Aurora, PostgreSQL RDS).
- High proficiency in RESTful and GraphQL API design, including reusable API patterns using Node.js, TypeScript and cloud-native AWS services, with examples of design leadership provided.
- Strong understanding of developer experience practices, including self-service templates, automation, reusable CI/CD workflows and onboarding enablement.
- Experience governing shared engineering assets through practical standards for documentation, automated tests, versioning, contribution guidelines and support models.
- Demonstrated prior responsibility for software architecture, ability to lead architecture and code reviews for teams other than their own, security practices, performance optimization techniques, operational support.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to balance the competing priorities of multiple product teams while advising and influencing others.
- Demonstrated experience uplifting other engineers through coaching, pairing, review or enablement material, and driving technical outcomes across teams without direct authority.
